About Our Company

Don’s Bail Bonds is a family owned business that has offered unwavering integrity and honesty since 1954. However, our history goes back much further to 1927; making us one of the oldest families in the California bail bond industry.

Our history begins with Ernie Webb, one of the first bail bondsmen in Orange County, who established his business in 1927. Don Mehr worked for Ernie for many years, and was extensively trained in all aspects of bail. After marrying Ernie’s daughter, Marilyn, Don then ventured out on his own. He formed Don’s Bail Bonds in 1954. Since then, his office doors have stayed open 24 hours a day, all year round in order to help people in a tight spot. Over the years, Don has continually strived to treat his customers more like family by offering them the best quality service available.

Don’s sons, Steve and Scott Mehr, spent their lives learning about bail and the legal ramifications of the profession. Both brothers are actively involved in the industry to this day. Don’s daughter, Susan, and grandson, Shawn, also became involved in the business and continue to work for Don. We are very proud to acknowledge that our family has four generation of experience in the bail industry.
Three living generations of bail agents work on a daily basis at Don’s Bail Bonds to carry on the family traditions of honesty, integrity, and professionalism. We proudly identify ourselves as one of the oldest families in the bail industry.

Dealing with an arrest and subsequent bail can be a challenging experience for all concerned. If your family has been charged with a crime and there is no bail network or bail support, here are some ways to help your family avoid time in prison.

Access to the best legal support you can get is a crucial first step. For a good outcome, it is crucial to get a lawyer on board as quickly as possible and to follow their instructions. If you have a trusted family lawyer, call them before you do anything else and find a court-appointed lawyer.

You can get your loved ones out of prison at any time, but must stay for a court order. The indictment will give you a clear overview of the crimes you and your relatives are accused of. This way, you (and your lawyer) know what to expect and decide on the best course of action.

This gives you the chance to leave prison by making a security deposit for a set amount of money. The money is treated as bail and guarantees that you and your loved ones will appear in court. Those who do not have access to the funds needed to make a deposit can be supported by bail networks and bail bonds.

We can help you publish the money to secure release in court. Once your bail is established, depending on the crime committed, you may find that the proceedings do not make it to court. Law enforcement agencies should be willing to offer a settlement that is the best way for you to avoid the costs and stress of a full criminal trial. You and your lawyer can help your loved ones by negotiating a deal with a lesser sentence and helping them avoid time in prison. You must also take into account the circumstances that led to the crime and how you can support yourself and your loved ones to prevent it from happening again.

Find positive goals to focus on and work on better decisions for the future, now and in the here and now.
